Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Why is Dr. Martin starting Martin Dermatology?
The relationships I’ve developed over the last 10 years with patients, their families, and the community are among the highlights of my life. I’m interested in developing a practice that allows me the chance to prioritize those relationships over faster, more numerous visits.
What types of dermatology care does Martin Dermatology provide?
Martin Dermatology is committed to the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer as well as to the treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions including psoriasis, eczema/atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and acne/rosacea. In addition, Dr. Martin manages benign lesions including warts, seborrheic keratoses, moles, and molluscum as well as more complicated multisystem disorders like lupus and medication reactions.
For patients in need of surgical procedures or interested in cosmetic evaluation, we are happy to manage referrals to excellent providers in the Richmond area.
Who may be interested in joining Martin Dermatology?
Martin Dermatology is designed to offer an opportunity for patients who are interested in being seen when needed, having more time with visits, always being seen by a physician, and being supported by a team focused on patient experience. This may include patients with a history of skin cancer, chronic rashes requiring significant medication management, and those who value a patient-centered approach to care.
Is there a discount for multiple family members to join Martin Dermatology?
No. The annual membership fee is per patient. This provides the resources necessary for Martin Dermatology to focus on availability, appropriate length visits, and patient experience.
Will I see a physician or non-physician provider during my visit?
All patient visits at Martin Dermatology are seen by Dr. Martin.
How does health insurance work with Martin Dermatology?
Martin Dermatology processes your health insurance in the same manner as a traditional dermatology practice. Your insurance covers approved services, and you are responsible for all copays, deductibles, and coinsurance. Please check with your insurance provider if you have any questions about coverage.
Your annual membership fee is not covered by Medicare or other insurance providers. Likewise, membership fees are not a covered expense for FSA funds.
About Our Practice
What is a membership-based or concierge practice?
A membership-based or concierge practice is one that charges an annual fee to be a patient. This fee allows Martin Dermatology the opportunity to maintain a smaller patient volume, provide longer visits, and ensure appointment availability when you need. The annual fee for Martin Dermatology is currently $750 and is not covered by Medicare or other health insurance providers.
What should I know about enrolling with Martin Dermatology?
Enrollment at Martin Dermatology is limited to a smaller number of patients than a traditional Dermatology practice. This allows us to focus on availability and longer visits as mentioned. The annual fee is currently $750. Once the practice is full, Martin Dermatology will maintain a list of interested patients for future availability.
